Biography

Section 75 aka Lee Pennington

Middlesbrough in the North East of England may not sound like the epicentre of the dance music universe, however in October 2003, with the inception of progressive club night *riffraff, Lee Pennington (Section 75) put his two feet firmly on the first rung of the DJing ladder.

Launched initially as a one-off promotional night to help promote his debut release on Source of Gravity Recordings, it quickly developed into an event that would cater for those people who appreciate forward thinking and thoughtful house music.

As *riffraff went from strength to strength over the years, the name of Section 75 also became a respected name on the circuit, both as a DJ and as a producer, as Lee’s first release “Hermit’s Curve” received top marks in M8 magazine and IDJ, as well as receiving support from DJ’s including Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo.

Additional releases on Source of Gravity followed with the Section 75 remix of “Amber Glow” by Blue Haze reaching number five in the EDM download charts.

Elsewhere Lee was invited to sign tracks to Japanese licensing agency Toryumon and has had further releases on Adjust Recordings, Junkfunktion and Mixturi Recordings.

As well as his resident duties at *riffraff, Lee has managed to get out and about across Europe, playing his own brand of progressive house to the masses. Gigs at Paradox (Switzerland), Club Headway (Dundee), Dirty Blondes & Primo Amore (Newcastle), Audio Deluxe (London) and the Summer parties at Orange Corner (Ibiza) have capped an impressive 2005 with Lee looking forward to more of the same in 2006.

Section 75 continued a busy 12 months with appearances on Energy FM, Red & Blues Shake show and work on exclusive downloads for the launch of his brand new website.

With several releases pending for early 2006, a host of DJ appearances across Europe planned, not to mention the continued development of the *riffraff night, it would seem Mr Lee Pennington / Section 75 is going to have his work cut out for him this year.
